Paano laruin

  1. White moves first, then players alternate one move at a time.
  2. Each piece can only move the way it's defined to move — if an enemy piece sits where you land, you capture it (you can never capture your own piece).
  3. You can never make a move that leaves your own king capturable. If you're in check, you must play a move that gets you out of it.
  4. Whoever checkmates the opponent's king wins.

Paano manalo

Corner your opponent's king so it has no way to escape capture (checkmate) and you win; if your own king gets checkmated, you lose. If neither king is in check but the player to move has no legal move at all, it's a stalemate — a draw.

Mga tip

  • Control the center early with pawns and pieces, and get your king castled to safety sooner rather than later.
  • Pieces have different relative strengths (Queen > Rook > Bishop/Knight > Pawn) — avoid trades that lose you value.

Mga madalas itanong

Do I need to install anything, or pay?
No. The board on this page runs in the browser, free and with no sign-up, and both players share one device rather than joining an online room. The PartyAt app has chess too, along with the rest of the party game collection.
Does this app support castling and en passant?
Yes to both. Castling needs the king and rook to have never moved, empty squares between them, and no attack along the king's path. En passant lets you capture an enemy pawn that just advanced two squares past yours, but only on the very next move.
What happens when a pawn reaches the far row?
It promotes — you choose to turn it into a queen, rook, bishop, or knight (most players pick the queen, the strongest piece).
What counts as a draw, and are there time limits?
Only stalemate ends in a draw here — repeated positions, the 50-move rule, and insufficient material don't trigger one. There's also no time limit, no clock loss, and no resign option: the only way a game ends is checkmate or stalemate (each player's total thinking time is just shown for reference). The board embedded on this page also calls a draw when neither side has the pieces left to force mate; threefold repetition and the fifty-move rule are still left to the two of you.
Can I take back a move?
You can undo just the immediately previous move — you can't keep undoing multiple moves in a row.
